Sentosa Cove's Commercial Waterfront Offerings
To Add New Dimension to Singapore's Burgeoning
Southern Tourism & Lifestyle Hub

Singapore, 14 February 06 – Singapore's first and only resort hotel with sweeping vistas of a mega-yacht marina dotted with white luxury yachts; a row of waterfront retail shops and restaurants overlooking the horizon, offering a fresh array of merchandise, services and cuisines; romantic cruises to the Southern Islands and beyond – this is a mere preview of what will be made available to both local and overseas guests at Sentosa Cove's marina precinct.

Billed to be the hive of activity within the exclusive residential enclave of Sentosa Cove, this marina hub – together with the leisure and entertainment amenities on the rest of Sentosa, Mount Faber , Vivo City , St James Power Station and Singapore Cruise Centre – will be instrumental in shaping Singapore 's Southern tourism lifestyle district.

Since January 06, Sentosa Cove has initiated discussions with several local and foreign developers and investors to express interest for its 'Quayside Collection', which comprises land parcels for a seven-storey, 320-room five-star marina hotel, a three-storey waterfront commercial site and land parcels for two six-storey condominium developments adjacent to the marina hotel.

"The Quayside Collection at Sentosa Cove will enhance Singapore's appeal as one of the most attractive, vibrant and compelling tourism destinations of the region," Ms Jennie Chua, Chairman of Sentosa Cove, said.

"The Quayside Collection presents a unique opportunity for developers to influence the emerging face of the Southern water precinct. Its development will see Sentosa Cove emerge as a fully integrated community with hotel, commercial and residential developments which will bring tourists and locals alike closer to the heart of the action," Ms Chua added.

This marina hotel, together with the other new hotel developments on Sentosa, some of which include The Knolls by Pontiac Land Group, The Amara Sentosa by Amara Holdings and the upcoming Integrated Resort, will add to the accommodation mix and supply of hotel rooms in Singapore, as the Singapore Tourism Board has aimed to achieve $30 billion worth of tourism receipts and 17 million visitor arrivals by 2015.

Together with Sentosa Cove's marina hotel, Sentosa will boast close to 1,000 new hotel rooms come 2008, in addition to its current 800 rooms on the resort island, spanned across The Sentosa Resort and Spa and Shangri-la's Rasa Sentosa Resort, amongst others.

Guests to Sentosa Cove's new marina hub can also experience luxurious cruises around the waters off Sentosa or to the Southern Islands from a new ferry terminal to be built and operated by One 15 Marina Club. Besides scheduled weekend departures to neighbouring waters, larger pleasure crafts and mega-yachts will also be available for charter for longer trips to overseas marinas in the Southeast Asia region.

The Quayside Collection is the only commercial site for sale within Sentosa Cove and spans 48,611sqm. [ Please refer to The Quayside Collection brochure for more information on the varying sizes of land parcels and their plot ratios. ]

As Singapore's first – and currently, the only – quayside marina hub set within a residential district, Sentosa Cove is optimistic that it will attract strong interest from major local and overseas developers. This interest is further fueled by the immediate hinterland of 10,000 residents living in Sentosa Cove's 2,600 homes and the projected 8 million visitors to Sentosa come 2008.

"Sentosa is fast gaining international recognition as one of the most exciting leisure destinations in Asia and one that is increasingly appealing to the higher-end tourist and business traveler," Mr Darrell Metzger, CEO of Sentosa Leisure Group, said.

"The strong Sentosa branding and steady increase of visitor numbers and investments are indeed assurances of the potential success that developers and investors can look forward to," Mr Metzger said.

Ever since its rejuvenation in 2002, visitor numbers to Sentosa have steadily increased, hitting a record high of 5.1 million in March last year.

With other major upscale international events held at both Sentosa and Sentosa Cove, such as the Clipper 05-06 Round-the-World Yacht Race, Boat Asia 2006, Singapore Open (2005 to 2007) Golf Tournament, Forbes Annual Global CEO Conference and Forbes Best-under-a-Billion Dinner and Awards Ceremony from 2006 to 2008, Sentosa and Sentosa Cove are geared up to be the preferred destination for local and overseas guests, as well as leisure and business visitors alike – contributing to the visitor numbers and tourist dollars that will effectively support the retail shops, restaurants and hotel occupancy on the resort island.

Developers and investors have until 28 April 06 to submit their price and concept proposals. The award will be based on offer price, design and concept, tourism appeal as well as the strength of the prospective lessee and operator.
